Created by John Ousterhout at the University of Berkley Tcl is one of the more important members in the family of scripting languages (like Perl, Python and Ruby). Tcl-Applications are easy and fast to write, easy to delivery to a hugh amount of platforms. The graphical Toolkit Tk provides a great widget set which is easy to extend. So we have a lot of extensions providing even more sophisitcated widgets (tables, trees ...).
